Chief Warrant Officer 5 Deshawn L. Bell
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Deshawn L. Bell joined the HQ, NETCOM staff as the Command Chief Warrant Officer on 11 June 2021. He serves as the Senior Network Operations Technician and a principal advisor to NETCOM on all ongoing and emerging network and information services efforts within DoD and DA. He advises on efforts that impact the installation, operation, maintenance, and defense of the Army’s portion of the DoDIN. He most recently served as the Senior Technology Advisor, USARPAC G6, Fort Shafter, HI, where he was the primary technical advisor on all network and systems matters, especially as it related to strategic-to-tactical systems integration within US Army Pacific (USARPAC) Theater. Prior to USARPAC, CW5 Bell served as the Signal Regiment’s fifth Regimental Chief Warrant Officer (RCWO), Signal Regimental HQ’s, Fort Gordon, GA. He served as the Senior Warrant Officer Advisor to the Chief of Signal on the improvement and management of the eight proponency life-cycle functions impacting Signal Warrant officers across all three US Army COMPOs
CW5 Bell proudly hails from Colorado Springs, CO. He entered the Army in July 1988 as a Computer Programmer/Systems Analyst (MOS 74F). From 1989 – 1996, he served at Fort Huachuca, AZ; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Alexandria, VA. He was selected to attend the Warrant Officer Candidate School in 1996, and was appointed a Warrant Officer One (WO1) in the Signal Corps. His past assignments include the Command Chief Warrant Officer, 311th Signal Command (Theater), Fort Shafter, HI; Technical Director, U.S. Army Signal School, Fort Gordon, GA; Data Network Services Integrator, USARPAC G6, Fort Shafter, HI; Communications Engineering Branch Chief, 335th Signal Command (Theater), Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, where he was further deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan, and Camp Victory, Iraq supporting the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, and the Joint Network Communications Center - Iraq; Data Network Planner, I Corps G6, Fort Lewis, WA; Combat Service Support Automation Management Office (CSSAMO) OIC, 172nd Infantry
Brigade (Separate), Fort Wainwright, AK; and Automation Section OIC, Corps Logistics Automation Office (CLAO), 1st Corps Support Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (1 OLC), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Parachutist Badge, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Silver Order of Mercury.
CW5 Bell holds an Associate of Science Degree in Data Processing Technology from Hawaii Pacific University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer and Information Sciences from University of Maryland University College, and a Master of Science Degree in Information Technology Management from Trident University International. CW5 Bell is also a graduate of all required Warrant Officer Professional Military Education, and a graduate of the USAWC’s Senior Leader Seminar. Additionally, CW5 Bell is a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
