Command Sergeant Major Jason D. McCoy

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jason D. McCoy enlisted in the Army on 12 November 1999, completing Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia where he received the Military Occupational Specialty of 25B, Information Systems Analyst.

CSM McCoy served in a variety of positions to include Information Management Officer, Information Management Systems NCO, Training Developer/Writer, Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Detachment Sergeant, First Sergeant, Senior Information Systems Chief for I Corps, Command Sergeant Major for the 2d Information Operations Battalion, and Command Sergeant Major for the 40th Signal Battalion.

CSM McCoy’s assignments include United States Army Research and Material Command, Fort Sam Houston, TX; 509th Personnel Services Battalion, Camp Casey, Korea; 551st Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA; 447th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA; 30th Signal Battalion, Wheeler Army Air Field, HI; 307th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, Schofield Barracks, HI; I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA; United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX; 2d Information Operations Battalion, Fort Belvoir, VA, and 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, Fort Huachuca, AZ. Prior to assuming responsibilities for NETCOM, CSM McCoy was the Command Sergeant Major for the Army Information Systems Engineering Command, Fort Huachuca, AZ.

CSM McCoy deployed to Afghanistan for combat operations in Operation Enduring Freedom 10-11. CSM McCoy’s military education includes the Warriors Leader’s Course, the Advanced Leader’s Course (Commandant’s List), the Total Army Instructor’s Training Course, the United States Army Drill Sergeant School, the Senior Leader’s Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), the First Sergeant Course, the Master Resiliency Trainer Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 65. His civilian education includes a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from Grantham University and pursues a Doctor of Philosophy in Technology and Innovation Management.

CSM McCoy’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 14 oak leaf clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, 7th award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Numeral 5, Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Numeral 3, and the NATO Medal. His badges include the Drill Sergeant Badge, the Army Drivers Badge, and the Marksmanship Badge.
